LabourPlace — Privacy Policy

LabourPlace ("the App", "we", "us") is a platform operated by Education On Earth Private Limited, a company registered in India (CIN: U85490AP2026PTC123817), that connects workers with employers for daily-wage and short-term work.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Phone number — used to create and sign in to your account via OTP (one-time password) verification.
• Profile details — your name, role (worker or employer), and profile photo (optional).
• Worker profile details — skill category, expected daily wage range, years of experience, languages known, a short bio, and your location name.
• Employer profile details — your name, company/business name, business type, and location name.
• Job and application data — job posts you create, applications you submit, and ratings/reviews you give or receive.

Information collected automatically (with your permission):

• Device location (GPS) — collected when you open or refresh the App, only after you grant location permission. Location is used to show workers and jobs near you, sorted by distance. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the App will continue to work with reduced functionality (no distance-based sorting).

We do not collect government ID numbers, financial account details, contacts, or messages from your device.

2. App Permissions

• Location (Foreground) — to show nearby workers and jobs sorted by distance. Only collected when the app is open and you have granted permission.
• Camera / Photo Library — only used when you choose to upload a profile photo. We do not access your camera or photos without your explicit action.
• Push Notifications — to send you job alerts and application updates. You can disable this in your device settings at any time.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and verify sign-in via OTP.
• To show workers to nearby employers and jobs to nearby workers.
• To operate core features: job posting, applications, accept/reject decisions, ratings, and contact unlock.
• To send service-related SMS messages (such as OTPs) through authorised SMS providers registered under India's DLT framework.
• To send push notifications for job alerts and application updates.
• To maintain safety, prevent misuse, and improve the App.

4. How Your Information Is Shared

• With other users (core purpose of the App): if you are a worker with availability turned ON, your profile details (name, photo, skill category, wage range, experience, languages, bio, approximate location and distance, and ratings) are visible to employers. Your phone number is shared with an employer only when that employer uses the "Unlock Contact" feature for your profile.
• With employers/workers in a job flow: employers see details of workers who apply to their jobs; workers see employer profile details of jobs they view or apply to.
• Service providers: we use trusted infrastructure and service providers to run the App, including cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services, Asia Pacific — Mumbai region) and SMS delivery providers. These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
• Payments (when enabled): if paid features are introduced, payments will be processed by a licensed payment gateway (such as Razorpay). We do not store your card or banking details on our servers.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority in India.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers located in India (AWS Asia Pacific — Mumbai region). Profile photos are stored in secured cloud storage. All data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production systems is restricted, and we use industry-standard measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention and Account Deletion

• We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
• You may delete your account directly within the App at any time (Profile → Delete Account). All your personal data, profile, applications, and contact history will be permanently deleted.
• You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email below. We will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days of a verified request, except where retention is required by law.
• Withdrawn applications and closed jobs may be retained in anonymised or historical form for platform integrity (such as ratings accuracy).

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Availability toggle: workers can turn availability OFF at any time to stop appearing in employer searches.
• Location permission: you can deny or revoke it in device settings at any time.
• Push notifications: you can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
• Profile edits: you can update your profile details and photo in the App at any time.
• Access, correction, deletion: contact us to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

8. Children

LabourPlace is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the App or on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
